Within Her
What happens when a familiar body makes an unfamiliar gesture?
This ongoing project begins with women moving beyond the gestures they repeat every day. There is no finished image to step into. We try things together, following an impulse, staying with an awkward movement, allowing uncertainty to enter.
I am drawn to the moment when a gesture surprises the woman making it. Something happens before either of us fully understands it. We influence each other, and the photograph grows from that exchange.
How much of ourselves do we hold back simply because a movement feels strange? What might become possible if we stay with it a little longer?
